HUMAN RELATIONS 101
Human Relations 101 is a powerful, one-hour experiential program for business professionals and community members interested in gaining a deeper understanding of our increasingly diverse community. Current research indicates that an authentically inclusive environment enriches the workplace by broadening employee perspectives, strengthening teams, and offering greater resources for problem resolution.
The collaboration that results can foster a more critical examination of assumptions, and, arguably, better solutions. Workshop participants examine personal and societal stereotypes, biases and prejudices and acquire the knowledge and skills to forge meaningful intergroup relations. Our goal is to enable participants to explore new ways to create a safe, welcoming and respectful workplace culture.
WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS WILL:
• Examine personal and societal stereotypes, biases and prejudices
• Explore a system of power and privilege that is maintained to give advantage to some while oppressing others
• Learn how to engage in honest and respectful dialogues around issues of difference (race, culture, faith, class, gender, sexual orientation, age and ability)
• Gain the confidence, knowledge and skills to forge meaningful intergroup relationships
• Build compassion, empathy and inclusion into their personal and professional lives
