PROJECT CORE
Project CORE is a training program designed to prepare individuals who are interested in becoming volunteer staff, facilitators and directors at Inclusive Communities youth and adult educational programs.
Throughout the year, volunteers are offered several opportunities to practice and sharpen their program facilitation skills, discuss issues impacting the community and examine exercises by attending and participating in half to full-day trainings. Project Core serves as a critical tool in the recruitment, development and retention of high quality program volunteers.
COMMUNITY
Because we believe in the promise, the potential and the power of communities built on inclusion, respect and justice for all people.
More than ever before, our community is changing everyday. With the combination of technology and globalization, the very concept of community is changing.
How deeply does our understanding of an inclusive community run? What does it cost us when we allow our differences to divide us rather than unite us, to devalue rather than strengthen and enrich us? Project C.O.R.E. participants gain the awareness and tools to champion inclusion in their community and workplace.
ON-GOING
Because each of us is a work-in-progress.
Institutional and systemic bias is deeply rooted. If we are to combat this bias and build inclusive communities with respect and justice for all people, we must consciously and consistently be about the work of addressing our own personal bias and prejudice.
Each of us is unique, and each Project C.O.R.E. participant will have a unique experience, regardless of profession or level of experience. Project C.O.R.E. can be a great starting point for those that are new to the effort, and at the same time, it can serve as challenging and intensive continuing education for those with more experience.
RESPONSIVE
Because we believe in the power of thoughtful, positive action.
Being engaged in, and committed to, building a more just world begins with awareness, but it must also be carried forth through action. Project C.O.R.E. participants discover actions, large and small, that they can pursue in their personal and professional lives.
EMPOWERMENT
Because you are not alone.
Creating more inclusive communities is powerful and fulfilling work. It can also be lonely and intimidating. Project C.O.R.E. participants will go back to the “real world” with a greater knowledge and awareness of support and resources that are available to them. They also leave with a greater appreciation and understanding of what being an “ally” means and having a focus on developing more allies.
