David Baker is excited to be joining the team at Inclusive Communities in February of 2024. In his role as the Volunteer and Faculty Manager, David aims to recruit, train, and engage our volunteers and faculty to deliver IC’s world-class programming the Midwest has come to know and love. Before his work here, David spent two years at the TeamMates Mentoring Program as the Recruitment Strategist where he worked with nearly 60 chapter organizations to promote mentoring as a community connector. After taking a non-traditional pathway, David received his B.S. in Sociology from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in August 2024.
David has received multiple recognitions for his work including the 2022 Emerging Nonprofit Leader Award from the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Greater Omaha and was selected as a semi-finalist for ServeNebraska’s 2023 Adult Volunteer of the Year. In the fall of 2022, David was also selected as one of 14 members across the U.S. to serve on a Participatory Action Research team for the National Mentoring Partnership, where he studied the impacts and effects of social capital on our youth. In 2023, David was invited to sit on the Transit Advisory Committee for Metro Transit and the YP Summit planning committee for the Greater Omaha Chamber.
David strongly believes in the power of listening, regularly creating environments to allow everyone to share their story. If he had to pick an unnecessary superpower it would be to change white milk to chocolate milk, and the achievement he is most proud of is potty-training his Golden Retriever puppy, Goose, in just one week.
